The Alaska Native Language Center is internationally known and recognized as the major center in the United States for the study of Eskimo and Northern Athabaskan languages. ANLC publishes its research in story collections, dictionaries, grammars, and research papers and houses an archival collection of more than 10,000 items.

Aleut is the language of a few thousand people, and Eskimo is native to over 100,000 people. There are a few varieties of the Eskimo language.
