shown in filters: Публикации Several species of bats are known to modify leaves and build tents for shelters; fifteen of these are Neotropical phyllostomids (Timm 1987, Charles-Dominique 1993), and three are Old World bats (Rickart et al. 1989). This type of roosts offers protection from rain, wind, sun, and predators and also may be used as feeding roosts (Timm 1987, Brooke, 1990, Charles-Dominique 1993). A number of studies on bat's tent have been carried out in Central America, mainly in Costa Rica. [ eng ] |

In Venezuela, Handley (1976) collected R. pumilio mainly in moist parts of tropical evergreen forests. In Peru, Tuttle (1970) took both R. pumilio and R. fischerae most often in or near gardens where bananas and papayas were grown. Gardner (1977) stated that bats of this genus all are probably frugivores but may consume insects as well. Pregnant or lactating R. pumilio have been found in April, May, June, July, and December.
