This genus is distinguished from Glossophaga and related bats mainly by dental features. The muzzle is elongate; the long tongue is supplied with papillae; the cheek teeth are narrow and elongate; and the tail usually projects for about half its length beyond the edge of the narrow interfemoral membrane.
