The single species, S. ega, apparently is known only from three specimens: the type in the British Museum of Natural History, collected at Ega, Amazonas, Brazil; a specimen in the Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and one in the United States National Museum of Natural History, taken at Tamatama, Rio Orinoco, T. F. Amazonas, southern Venezuela.
