According to A. L. Gardner (U.S. National Museum of Natural History, pers. comm., 1988), Platalina has been collected in relatively dry regions and in mines and grottoes, at elevations ranging from near sea level to about 2,300 meters. It has developed a highly derived feeding apparatus, independent of the specialized glossophagine genera. [ eng ] |
