In Venezuela this bat occurs in forested lowlands, usually near streams or in other moist places (Handley 1976). Reported roosting sites include: caves in the
Yucatan (Jones, Smith, and Genoways 1973), a Mayan ruin in Guatemala (Rick 1968), and a hollow tree in Costa Rica (Starrett and Casebeer 1968). The diet
includes insects, fruit, and apparently a substantial proportion of small vertebrates such as other bats, opossums (Marmosa), mice, birds, lizards, and frogs. [ eng ] |
