Big-eared bats usually frequent arid lowlands, but M. waterhousii also occurs in more humid locations in the West Indies. In Jalisco, Mexico, Watkins, Jones, and Genoways (1972) found M. waterhousii mainly in relatively arid areas where subtropical vegetation predominated. Caves are a favorite roosting site, but this genus also occupies mine tunnels and buildings. [ eng ] |
