ARETINO, Pietro, satirischer Schriftsteller aus dem italienischen Humanistenkreis, * 20.4. 1492 in Arezzo, † 21.10. 1556 in Venedig. - A. kam 1517 nach Rom an den pдpstlichen Hof. Seit 1527 lebte er in Venedig. Dort verband ihn herzliche Freundschaft mit Vercellio Tizian. Seine Gцnner waren Leo X. und der Kardinal Giulio de' Medici, der 1523 als Clemens VII. Papst wurde.

Perhaps the most vigorous and versatile vernacular writer of the 16th century Aretino rejected the family name of his wastrel cobbler father and preferred to be known as Pietro 'of Arezzo' (his birthplace). It is doubtful whether he received any formal education. However, thanks to contacts derived from an aristocratic 'protector' of his attractive bourgeoise mother, he was much in the company of cultivated men, especially during a formative period of his life spent in Perugia (before 1510-17).

Пьетро Аретино родился 19 апреля 1492 в г.Ареццо. Его настоящая фамилия, возможно, Дель Тура , но он сам взял себе псевдоним, с которым станет знаменитым, чтобы не вспоминать о нелюбимом отце (вероятно, тот был сапожником и бросил жену и сына). Воспитанием Аретино занималась мать, образования он не получил, формирование его взглядов не испытало значительного влияния гуманистических идеалов 15 в.
