Francisco Giner de los Ríos (1839-1915) es considerado por muchos autores como el educador por excelencia de la España contemporánea. Intelectual y pedagogo, Giner fue uno de los pocos pensadores que intervinieron muy directamente en la historia del último tercio del siglo pasado, introduciendo un fermento activo en el desarrollo de las convicciones de la sociedad española. Representó, además, el esfuerzo por incorporar y absorber nuevas tendencias culturales traídas del extranjero, por lo que el estudio de sus Obras Completas se hace imprescindible para el conocimiento de la historia del pensamiento español contemporáneo.

In his work on the philosophy of law Giner attempted to reconcile positivist and rationalist trends. His collected works (1916–27) total 18 volumes.
