Selts ebaskorpionilised (<I>Pseudoscorpiones</I>). Üldinfo - Estonian
URL: http://www.zbi.ee/satikad/ammelgad/ebaskorpion/ebas.htm

Varjatud elupaikades peidavad end skorpionite sarnased 1-2 (7) mm pikkused lapiku kehaga ebaskorpionid. Nad peidavad end põhiliselt mullas, kuid ka puu korba all, samblas, kivide all, koobastes ning ka selgroogsete pesades ja urgudes. Mõned liigid elavad ka majades. Maailmas teadaolevast 2000 liigist elab Eestis vaid 5. Kuna neid on võrdlemisi vähe uuritud, siis arvatakse, et neid esineb tegelikult kaks korda rohkem. Põhiliselt elavad ebaskorpionid subtroopikas.

Pseudoscorpions - English
URL: http://insects.ummz.lsa.umich.edu/MES/notes/entnote16.html

Have you ever seen a pseudoscorpion, living or dead? These tiny arachnids--the average body length of the adult ranges from 2 to 4 mm--often generate little interest because they are difficult to keep alive for prolonged periods and their economic importance is confined to the role they play in the food web. They superficially resemble true scorpions except for the absence of a post-abdomen and accompanying sting (Fig. 1). However, they do have poison glands in their pedipalps which are used to capture small arthropods such as Collembola and mites. Because of their size as well as their secretive behavior, they usually go unobserved. Nevertheless, they are widespread in their distribution and diverse in their habits.

Pseudoscorpions - English
URL: http://gardening.wsu.edu/library/inse009/inse009.htm

Pseudoscorpions or "book scorpions" are flattened, oval shaped, and related to spiders. They are commonly found in houses but also occur outside under loose bark, dead leaves, etc. Although these tiny creatures (commonly 1/8 inch long) somewhat resemble scorpions, they do not sting and are reported to be harmless. They feed mostly on small insects, and are therefore beneficial. Pseudoscorpions spin small, disk shaped, whitish, cocoon like structures in which they lay eggs, overwinter, or shed their skin. These structures may be found in various locations where pseudoscorpions have been present. No controls are generally suggested. Avoid stacking firewood indoors. Only bring in the amount you are going to burn at any one time. Such practices will go a long way in cutting down the number of pseudoscorpions and other such creatures that often come in with firewood.
