Rhabdornises - Rhabdornithidae
- English
URL: http://www.montereybay.com/creagrus/rhabdornis.html
The Rhabornises are a small group of small arboreal passerines found only in the Philippines. They have traditionally been
considered a separate family allied to the Certhidae (northern creepers) and are often thus called "Philippine creepers."
However, their behavior is not at all creeper-like; they act more like chickadees/tits in mixed species flocks. [ eng ] |

Broadbill page (Eurylaimidae)
- English
URL: http://montereybay.com/creagrus/broadbills.html
The Broadbills are among the most spectacular birds on earth, and yet I can offer only a piteously poor photo of perhaps the dullest member
of the family, the African Broadbill (left). This is because broadbills are exceptionally difficult to observe and harder yet to photograph. They
live in the subcanopy of the Old World tropics: 11 species in southeast Asia, the Philippines, and Borneo & Sumatra, and the other 4 species
in the depths of the central African rainforest. [ eng ] |

Furnarid page - Furnariidae
- English
URL: http://www.montereybay.com/creagrus/ovenbirds.html
The furnarids are a huge family of New World passerines that range through virtually every habitat in South America. A few species are
found north into Central America as far as southern Mexico (none have yet reached the United States). They are often called
"Ovenbirds & allies" (as on my family list page) but "ovenbirds" are just a small subset of the family that builds hard mud nests
resembling Dutch ovens. [ eng ] |

Passeriformes
- English
URL: http://www.inra.fr/Internet/Produits/HYPPZ/ZGLOSS/6g---242.htm
Very large order corresponding to that of the passerines in the older classification. These perching birds are characterized by a beak with no silk, tarsi covered with small scales and feet having three toes in front opposed by one well-developed toe behind. Often of a small size, they are present everywhere. The main families comprising pests in Europe are the Paridae, the Fringillidae, the Passeridae, the Sturnidae and the Corvidae. [ eng ] |
