The idea to launch this admittedly ambitious project stems from an understanding of inherent weaknesses of today's Russian art market: a disappointingly feeble presence of museum quality pieces of international contemporary art and a long-felt want of a well-coordinated interchange with the Western artistic milieu. Therefore, this timely initiative of Mrs. Stella, a young Russian galerist, is bound to make a major splash on the local art gallery scene.
