Between the 5th and 3rd Millenia BC the very first settlers on the Island are beleived to have crossed over from Sicily, bringing along with them various simple tools, seeds and domestic animals. These Neolithic settlers were eventually actively involved in trade with Pantelleria, Lipari and Sicily for such locally unavailable materia prima like flint, stone and volcanic material.
