Distribution: Indo-Pacific. Moderately to strongly depressed head. Pelvic fins behind pectoral base. Two dorsal fins: D1 6-9 spines with the first spine short and barely connected with the remaining fins; D2 11-15 soft rays. Pectoral fin with 16-22 rays.
