Es un pez dificil de mantener ya que precisa de una calidad de agua excepcional. Come muy bien y acepta todo tipo de comida. El ejemplar mostrado fue devuelto a la tienda ya que molestaba a los spirobranchus, por lo que es un pez poco recomendable para acuarios de arrecife

Единственный вид этого семейства - рогатый занкл, или мавританский идол (Zanclus cornutus), - по внешнему виду очень напоминает некоторых вымпельных рыб-бабочек из рода Heniochus, с которыми его сближает сильно выдающееся вперед рыло, удлинение третьего луча в спинном плавнике, особенно хорошо выраженное у молоди, щитинообразность гибких зубов и даже почти однотипная полосатая окраска.
