Native Range: Marine and freshwater. Arctic and Atlantic drainages from Baffin Island and western side of Hudson Bay to Cape Fear Estuary, North Carolina (Schwartz et al. 1981; Page and Burr 1991); Pacific drainages from Alaska to Baja California.
