Northern Right Whale (Eubalaena glacialis) - English
URL: http://www.nsrl.ttu.edu/tmot1/eubaglac.htm

Habits. Right whales were so named by early whalers because they were the "right" whale to kill — they are slow swimmers and were thus easily caught, floated when dead, and produced large quantities of oil and baleen. Consequently, right whales were decimated early by the world’s whaling industries and have yet to recover.

Eubalaena glacialis (Atlantic Right Whale): Narrative - English
URL: http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/accounts/eubalaena/e._glacialis$narrative.

A few good spots to see the right whale are off the coast of Argentina's Penninsula Valdes, near Cape Cod, Mass., and in the Bay of Fundy of Nova Scotia. There are other places along the west coast of North America, South Africa, Japan, and points southeast of Australia. Bays and penninsulas sometimes have significant numbers close to shore due to heavy tidal fluctuations, abundance of food, and shelter from predators.

Save the Northern Right Whales - English
URL: http://www.rightwhales.org/

The northern right whale (Eubalaena glacialis) is the world's most endangered species of whale. After being hunted almost to extinction, collisions with boats and entanglements in fishing gear now threaten the survival of the species. Their coastal habitat is bisected by busy shipping lanes and fishing activity is intense. For northern right whales today, collisions with vessels and entanglements in fishing gear are every-day hazards.
