Welcome to GoBase.org, which was established as Go, An Addictive Game in October 1994 (a brief historical overview is available). On these pages you'll find a lot of information on the game of Go (Go is the western word for the game, in China the game is called wei ch'i, in Korea baduk). Of course, the Go rules are explained (in 8 languages), but you can also read about the history of Go, read stories and anecdotes related to Go, study the indepth study material, study baduk academy material in the problem section, connect to one of the online Go servers (reference: IGS clients) or retrieve information on Go and computers. You're really advised to browse around and see which topics are of special interest to you. Changes and additions in the tournament section of this site (see below) are monitored daily. This enables you to keep track of any newly arrived material.

The content of this Site - news, current information, educational, methodical materials on game Go (Goe) known in the East as Weiqi (China) or Baduk (Korea) and which history totals more than 4000 years. The first in Siberia had been created "Club of Go Amateurs of Novosibirsk State University" - in 1976. Since then repeatedly varied both the name of Club, and its location. Today it is Go Association "Siberia - Japan". Some interesting events in a history of the Siberian Go Club are an establishment of friendly contacts to Japanese Go amateurs from Sapporo (brotherhood city of Novosibirsk) and mutual visits of Go players of Siberia and Hokkaido with residing on Homestay. But the most significant event is construction the building of the Municipal Cultural Center "Siberia-Hokkaido" in Novosibirsk (see photo) which was under the initiative of Go players and at the direct financial participation of members of the Japanese Society of Culture "Hokkaido-Russia". Excuse, but while only this text and Go Glossary are accessible on English.
