This section aims to understand the higher cognitive functions in the great apes, especially in the chimpanzee. Recent research topics of this laboratory include: acquisition of a visual artificial language, mathematical competence, recognition of figures, visual search and attention, categorization and concept formation, short-term memory, and establishment of equivalence relations.
