Chinchillidae: Viscachas and Chinchillas - English

Chinchillids live in burrows or rocky crevices. They are basically cursorial but often jump bipedally and sit erect while eating, sunbathing, or grooming. All three genera have been observed to dustbathe. They are active throughout the year and are mainly vegetarian.
