The Parallel Histories pilot project examines the history of Spanish expansion into North America from Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas across the continent through Louisiana and Texas to the Southwest, California, and as far as Alaska. During much of the four hundred year period following Columbus's landfall in the Bahamas in 1492, Spain explored and colonized extensive areas of what is today the United States.
