Jesuitism - English URL: http://www.cthonia.com/atrium/relig_isms/jesuitism.html
The arts, principles, and practices of the Jesuits, know as the Society of Jesus, a religious order founded by Ignatius Loyola in 1534. The popular conception that the order is organized on a military plan is partly correct: the general at the head serves for life and has almost full administrative authority. The supreme power, however, is in the General Congregation, a body elected by members of the society who take four vows. There are two general classes of members, laymen and priests, with six grades of training and advancement.
