A ceremony practiced by folks who think it's not sufficient to get water splashed on your head when you're a few weeks old, but suggest you have it done again as an adult, only this time you hold your own nose and go under. Popularized by John The Baptist (circa 30 A.D.), revived by John Hess in Bohemia (circa 1300), and revived again in Zurich in 1524 by radical Christians, who allowed only adults in the church and denied the efficacy of paedobaptism. The Zurich sect practiced holiness, simplicity, and mutual help, and they advocated the separation of church and state.
