The Experience of Christ's Real Presence in Faith as a Goal for Lutheran Charismatic Renewal by Markku Antola. "The Charismatic Renewal has already found its place in most of the mainline Churches. As it has spread, it has brought out both enthusiasm and doubt. The evident advantages of non-Christian people linking into Christianity by a charismatic experience have been forgotten while the Charismatic Renewal is under suspicion of being a crypto-Pentecostal movement amongst the mainline Churches. In the beginning of the Charismatic Renewal, only in the Catholic Church did theologians take the responsibility seriously of asking about the theological connotations of the charismatic experience as a natural dimension of Christianity."

Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod: Commission on Theology and Church Relations - English
URL: http://www.lcms.org/ctcr/

The Holy Christian Church is the sum total of all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior from sin. It is called into being, nurtured, and extended by the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Gospel in Word and Sacraments. Because the church's life is so intimately involved with these means of grace, it must take special care that they are not falsified or weakened in any way as the church communicates to people living in the modern world. A church body that is loyal to the Gospel will therefore be concerned about theology.

The Augsburg Confession (1530) - English
URL: http://www.frii.com/~gosplow/augsburg.html

In 1530, Charles V, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, called together the princes and cities of his german territories in a Diet at Augsburg. He sought unity among them to fend off the attacks of Turkish armies in Eastern Austria. He called upon the Lutheran nobility to explain their religious convictions, with the hope that the controversy swirling around the challange of the Reformation might be resolved. To this end, Philip Melanchthon, a close friend of Martin Luther and a Professor of New Testament at Wittenberg University, was called upon to draft a common confession for the Lutheran Lords and Free Territories. The resulting document, the Augsburg Confession was presented to the emperor on June 25, 1530.
