One of the enduring themes of warfare is that of the guerrilla army pitted against a conventional one. On the one side are logistics, fire power and numbers; on the other are stealth, surprise, and the uncanny ability to disappear at will. This game, set in China in the years 1946-49, reproduces just such a conflict, as the Nationalist army and its warlord allies try to stem the growing power of the People's Liberation Army.

The Chinese Civil War occurred between the years 1945 and 1949. Its origins, the strategies and tactics involved, and the effects of the war were not only significant within China itself but involved and affected the entire world. These effects can be felt to this day.
