At the Toronto Zoo, we aim to: provide a unique oasis of living diversity amidst the fast-paced environment of city living (RECREATION); bring into perspective people's relationship with the plants and animals that share their world (EDUCATION); engage in nutritional, physiological, behavioural and genetic research with a view to saving endangered species and improving animal husbandry (RESEARCH); actively foster the conservation of endangered species in the wild, and to undertake captive propagation as a means of saving animals at risk of extinction (CONSERVATION).
