Political/Satellite - English

The theme for the world includes data layers from multiple data sets. The visual background, provided by WorldSat International, is a natural-color, cloud-free satellite image at a resolution of two kilometers (1.2 miles) per pixel. The WorldSat image was collected from the NOAA weather satellites. The imagery is co-registered to digital elevation data with shaded relief as well as ocean bathymetry. The map theme also includes country boundaries, city locations, and transportation features from ESRI's "ArcAtlas: Our Earth" and "Maps and Data" data sets. The country boundaries are current as of 1998. Only major cities and significant national roads and railroads are shown.

GIS/ research in mapping urban climate and energy effects - English

Within our Berlin environmental Atlas we have published different maps to describe the urban climate situation in our city. One of our very new efforts in the field of the global climate change discussion is to gather all relevant data of the various CO2-emission sources in the city so to support a very detailed CO2-cataster (on the level of the single built-up areas) in the city. This should be the beginning of a CO2- monitoring in Berlin. Who does know any other efforts in this field in metropolitean ares, which are just published or under construction. We are interested in a comparision of the data basis, methods etc.
