The Canons Regular of Premontry, also known as the Premonstratensians, Norbertines, or White Canons (in the British Isles). The Order was founded by St. Norbert in the early 12th century, at the dawn of the great reform movement of the high middle ages in western Europe.

Португальский духовно-рыцарский орден. Основан в 1147 или 1148 (по другой версии, в 1162) для борьбы с маврами. В 1166 получил от Альфонса I во владение крепость Авис (Aviz, Avis; отсюда его название). А. о. играл значительную роль в истории Реконкисты в Португалии. С 1789 перестал существовать.
