The holotype of Alticorpus peterdaviesi, an adult of unspecified sex but apparently male (125 mm SL; USNM 210639), trawled off Monkey Bay, Malawi in 43 fathoms. Photo by Dr. Herbert R. Alticorpus macrocleithrum, the holotype (an adult male 122 mm SL, USNM 268475) from Cape Maclear, Malawi, in 75 m depth. The profile of the chest is unique and permits unambiguous identification of this species. Drawing from Stauffer & McKaye (1985).
