Pacas are sometimes considered agricultural pests, as they may destroy yams, cassava, sugar cane, corn, and other crops. They are killed by people for this reason and are also hunted intensively throughout their range for their flesh, which is said to be unusually delicious and to have a far higher price than any other meat, domestic or wild.
