The penultimate step to canonization is beatification and the Holy Father has presided at 100 such ceremonies in nearly 19 years, proclaiming 770 blesseds, of whom 579 were martyrs and 191 confessors.

Он был родом предположительно из Бретани и был благородного происхождения. После 500 г. он прибыл в Wales (западная Англия) и жил там как отшельник на острове Рамсей в канале Св. Георгия (а не в Рамси на острове Мэн в Ирландском море, как раньше предполагалось). Согласно преданию, он был убит своими тремя холопами (или пиратами?) ок. 530-540 гг.
