"Wallace felt no resentment at receiving so little credit for his contribution to science. He was happy to be recognized for his accounts of his travels, his collections (which far surpassed Darwin's) and his work in biogeography (studying the distribution of organisms). Wallace remained a gracious man to the last, commenting late in life that his greatest achievement had been to prompt Darwin to publish his own theory."
