Francisco Pizarro est un homme dont la personnalité est assez obscure. On trouve peu de biographies le concernant et beaucoup de mystères demeurent sur sa jeunesse. Il serait né à Trujillo en 1475 selon le chroniqueur Garcilaso de la Vega Inca ou en 1471selon d’autres.

Sin duda alguna estámos ante uno de los hombres mas falsos y canallas de la historia universal, venerado como un santo en su lugar de orígen. Este canalla nació en Trujillo el año 1478 y era bastardo de la pequeña nobleza de su región, Extremadura. Sirvió junto a su padre, Gonzalo Pizarro en las guerras de Italia antes de pasar a América con Nicolás de Ovando en 1502.

Francisco Pizarro (1478-1541) was a Spanish conquistador who traveled through much of the Pacific coast of America along Peru. He "discovered" the Incan empire and conquered it brutally and quickly, stealing immense hoards of gold, silver, and other treasures.

1476–1541, Spanish conquistador, conqueror of Peru. Born in Trujillo, he was an illegitimate son of a Spanish gentleman and as a child was an illiterate swineherd. Pizzaro accompanied Ojeda to Colombia in 1510 and was with Balboa when he discovered the Pacific. Hearing of the fabled wealth of the Incas, he formed (1524) a partnership with Diego de Almagro and Fernando de Luque (a priest who secured funds).

The quintessential "conquistador", Pizarro served in the Spanish troops' Italian campaigns and came to America in 1502. He accompanied Balboa in the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and in 1524, together with Diego de Almagro tried to conquer Perú. He failed, went back to Spain and was commissioned by the Emperor Carlos I. In 1531 he, 180 men and 3 ships returned to Perú where he captured, imprisoned and executed the Inca Atahualpa who had just ended a fraticidal war with Huáscar. He founded the City of Kings, Lima in 1535. He died in Lima in 1541.

Um 1475 als unehelicher Sohn eines spanischen Hauptmanns geboren, nahm Pizarro ab 1510 an verschiedenen Expeditionen in Mittelamerika teil und gehörte zur Truppe Bilbaos, die 1513 bis an den Pazifik vorstieß. Bei waghalsigen Expeditionen, die er auf eigene Faust unternahm, entdeckte er das Inkareich.
