Nafissatou Niang Diallo was born in 1941 in Dakar. She has worked as a Midwife and as a Paedriatric Nurse. She was brought up by her paternal grandmother when she lost her mother at the age of one and a half. Her father, Samba Assane, was a Borough Surveyor for the municipality of Dakar. At the age of seven she sent to the 'Champ de Course' primary school and when she was thirteen she attended the 'Collège Moderne' for young ladies in Dakar, after which, aged sixteen she went to the 'Van Vollenhoven' high school. She next enrolled at the State School for Midwives when she was eighteen. She left Senegal when she was twenty-three to continue her studies in Toulouse for two years. She married Mambaye Diallo in 1961 and had six children. She died in 1982.
