As fêmeas do furcifer de Cyathopharynx nadam nos fundos quando os machos criarem territórios com os ninhos. Fazer criação carregam a areia das pedras o mais rápidamente possível (o mais perto das fêmeas possível) e defendem ai o seu território. O macho o mais forte terá o melhor lugar. Os machos perdem frequentemente suas cores azuis, maravilhosas, se algo estar errado com a água. O furcifer de Cyathopharynx é muito calmo e vive na natureza a uma profundidade de 20-25 metros.

El cyathopharynx furcifer es un cíclido muy poco frecuente en las tiendas especializadas, pero según mi criterio es el pez más interesante, técnico y hermoso para un acuarista de agua dulce. Sus colores y su forma de adultos sólo son comparables con los peces marinos, pero su comportamiento no es superado por ningún otro pez...

Èíêóáèðóþò èêðó âî ðòó ñàìêè. Ðûáû ñðåäíåãî ðàçìåðà, äëèíîé äî 20 ñì. Ðàçëè÷èÿ ìåæäó ñàìêàìè è ñàìöàìè ïðèñóòñòâóþò. Âèäû ýòîãî ðîäà ñòðîÿò ãíåçäà èç ïåñêà òàêæå, êàê è Aulonocranus dewindti, Cunningtonia longiventralis è íåêîòîðûå Ophthalmotilapia spp.

A neon streak type of Cythopharynx foai feels at home in the deeper region at Cape Mpimbwe. Males are mainly dark sparkle blue with a turquoise shimmer on their cheeks. The males are also sporting a yellowish blaze, which makes this Cyathopharynx foai variety slightly different from Ikola, Kalila and Kipili varieties.

Tout un tas de choses pas très claires. Pour tout vous dire, j'en perd mon latin (qui n'était déjà pas au sommet ces derniers temps). En effet, courant mars 99, je reçois un émail d'un passionné qui me parle de C. foai. C'est quoi ce truc la ? Je pense immédiatement à tout un tas de genres qui commencent par un C, mais ne me doute pas encore qu'il sous-entend le genre Cyathopharynx, celui-ci étant monotypique jusqu'à ce jour. Renseignements pris, il s'agit bien de notre fameux Cyatho.
