In Venezuela, Sekulic (1982b) found that the abundance of fig trees was a principal determinant of group size for A. seniculus, with smaller groups being maintained when fewer figs were available. Four groups moved an average of 340-445 meters per day and slept in the tallest available trees at night.

Cebidae Family - English

The family Cebidae contains 11 genera 58 species (following most recent authors, we exclude the marmosets and tamarins and place them in their own family, the Callitrichidae). Cebids are a strictly American group, currently found from southern Mexico south to northern Argentina. They have been in South America since at least the early Oligocene, when they probably arrived via overwater rafting from Africa.

Alouatta caraya range varies from tropical semi-deciduous gallery forest where rains are nearly constant throughout the year, to tropical deciduous forest spotted with savanna like openings where there is a marked wet, warm season and a dry, cool season.
