The World of Anteaters - All About Anteaters - English
URL: http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/6098/Anteaters.html

The Anteaters are the only family in the infraorder Vermilingua of the order Edentata. The word "Edentata" means "without teeth", a description of all the animals within it; however this is hardly the truth, as the Anteaters are the only truly toothless Edentates. Their family, Myrmecophaga (from the Greek murmex, ant, and fagein (phagein), to eat), contains three genera: Myrmecophaga, which contains the single Giant Anteater species; Tamandua, which covers both the Lesser Anteaters (although opinion varies as to whether these are far enough apart to merit separate species); and Cyclopes, under which is classified the sole species of Pygmy Anteater.

Anteaters - English

Anteaters inhabit tropical forests and savannahs, sheltering in trees, hollow logs, or burrows constructed by other animals. They feed on ants, termites, and other insects. They use their strong foreclaws to rip open ant and termite nests, and they capture the insects with their long, sticky tongue.
