Educated at the Йcole Normale Supйrieure, Paris, the University of Munich and at Harvard. In 1929 he became Director of Information of France. He held the same post in the governments of Henri and Pйtain. After the First World War he became known for his novels and in later years his plays attracted attention. Many of these were modern treatments of ancient Greek pieces. His last play was "La folle de Chaillot", which he completed in 1943.
