Rhizomys: Bamboo Rats - English

These rodents generally inhabit bamboo thickets at elevations of 1,200-4,000 meters. They spend much of their life underground among the roots of dense stands of bamboo. They dig extensive burrows, using both their teeth and their claws. An individual bamboo rat usually has several burrows, only one or two of which may be in active use.
