Distribución en Costa Rica: Sur de la vertiente pacнfica (Penнnsula de Osa, San Vito), desde el nivel del mar hasta los 1.000 m., aproximadamente.

These animals live in open country and in areas of low bushes and thick ground cover, usually near water, from sea level to about 600 meters in elevation. They are terrestrial and their habits are much like those of meadow voles (Microtus). They make runways through the dense grass and are active at night.
