Modern Macedonian language
We note that here we describe the Modern Macedonian language, the language spoken in the Republic of Macedonia, the
member of South Slavic branch of Indo-European languages. We know that the government of Bulgaria doesn't recognize the
existence of this language supposing it is just the dialect of Bulgarian. We know also that the Greek government doesn't
recognize the name "Macedonian" concerning this Slavic tongue, demanding another name for it, for not to lose the glory of
Ancient Macedonia. [eng]

The Macedonian Language
Macedonian is a South Slavic language divided into two large groups, the western and the eastern Macedonian dialects. The Macedonian literary language was based
on the central dialects of Veles, Prilep, and Bitola. The Cyrilic alphabet that the Macedonian language uses, was developed by the Macedonian brothers from Solun
(Salonica), St.Cyril and St.Methodius (Sveti Kiril i Metodij), in the IX-th century. [eng]

Old Macedonian language
Some important traits make Macedonian different from Greek in phonetics. The intervocal s was
preserved here, while disappearing in Greek. Voiced aspirated consonants did not become voiceless but
were preserved (Greek thanos vs. Macedonian danos 'death'). [eng]
