    Gekkonidae
Gekkonids form an ancient group of lizards, and include two disparate groups today. The geckos all have four limbs, with 4-5 digits on each limb, while the scaly-foot lizards (formerly in their own family, the Pygopodidae) lack front limbs entirely while the rear limbs are reduced to a pair of flat flap-like stumps. The parietal bones are paired. All gekkonids have vocal sacs and the ability to produce sounds. Most lay eggs, but some species, notably from New Caledonia and New Zealand, give birth to live young. My name is Friedrich Wilhelm Henkel; I have been keeping and breeding geckos for more than 30 years, and i am looking forward to presenting an overview of these fascinating lizards to an interested public. In my opinion, commuciting one's personal experience to other herpetohiles is of great importance. [eng | deu]

    I Geconidi, Gekkonidae
[ita]
    Gekkonidae
Predominantly nocturnal. Some genera are diurnal (Gonatodes, Phelsuma, Roptropella, Rhoptropus, Quedenfeldtia). Some genera exhibit the interesting peculiarity of having both diurnal and nocturnal activity (even with some individual species exhibiting both). Examples include: Agamura, Pristurus, Ptyodactylus, Sphaerodactylus and several others. [eng]
