Peirce, Charles Sanders (1838-1914), American philosopher; b. Cambridge, Mass.
Viewing logic as the beginning of all philosophic study, he held
that the meaning of an idea was to be found in an examination

included William JAMES and John DEWEY. Peirce was also a
modern founder of SEMIOTICS. [eng]
