Craseonycteridae: Kitti's Hog-nosed Bat
About the size of a large bumblebee, this bat may be the world's smallest mammal. Head and body length is 29-33 mm, there is no tail, forearm length is 22-26 mm, and weight is about 2 grams. There seem to be two color phases, one with the upper parts brown to reddish and the other with the upper parts distinctly gray. The underparts are paler; the wings and interfemoral membrane are dark. The ears are relatively large, and the eyes are small and largely concealed by fur.

Craseonycteridae Family
This family contains only one species, Craseonycteris thonglongyai. This species was first discovered and described in 1974. With its discovery, C. thonglongyai became the smallest known mammal, weighing only two grams at maturity. It is extremely rare, only having been observed in the Kwai river drainage in Thailand. Craseonycterids are thought to be most closely related to rhinopomatids and emballonurids but are distinct enough from both groups to warrant familial status.
