Pholidichthyidae - Convict Blenny
The Family Pholidichthyidae is made up of but a single
species, the Convict Blenny. It is easily recognized by it's eel-like
shape and swimming motion, large mouth, and distinct black and white
color pattern. This fish is only distantly related to the blennies,
despite the common name. [eng]

Pholidichthys leucotaenia
The engineer fish is easily confused with Plotosus Anguillaris, the coral cat. The confusion between Pholidichthys and Plotosus is an easy one. In fact, The juvenile engineerfish mimics the coral cat's color patterns and shoaling behavior, and undoubtedly derives indirect protection from the latter's poisonous dorsal and pectoral spines (Batesian mimicry).
