Saccopteryx: White-lined Bats
In Venezuela, Handley (1976) found S. bilineata and S. leptura mainly in forests but S. canescens mainly in open areas. Most specimens of each species were collected near streams or in other moist places. These bats roost in less shaded locations than do many other bats. In southern Mexico they have been found under concrete bridges, in culverts under highways, on the trunks of tall trees such as wild figs (Ficus), inside hollow trees, and at or near the entrances of limestone caves.
