Cheiromeles: Naked Bats, or Hairless Bats This genus is unique among bats in several respects: the essentially naked appearance, the great development of the throat sacs, and the wing pouches. A
pouch is present in both sexes along the sides of the body, formed by an extension of a fold of skin to the upper arm bone and to the upper leg bone. This pouch
opens toward the rear and is 25-50 mm deep. The folded wings are pushed into these pouches by the hind feet; the first toe of each hind foot is opposable to the
other toes and is supplied with a flattened nail instead of a claw. [eng]
