This genus differs from all other fruit bats in that the molar teeth have five or six cusps and the lower canines have three. Also, the premaxillary bones of the skull, the upper incisors, and the upper and lower canines are more strongly inclined forward than in other fruit bats. The canines cross each other almost at right angles when the jaws are closed. [eng]
