Echimys lives in trees, often on riverbanks or in flooded areas. It is reported to slink along the branches rather than to scamper like a squirrel. In Venezuela, Handley (1976) collected nearly all specimens of E. semivillosus in trees, most near streams or in other moist places within thorn forest. [eng] |
