Heteropsomys These rodents can be described only on the basis of their skulls and teeth. In the subgenus Heteropsomys the skull is somewhat smaller than that of an agouti (Dasyprocta), having a total length of about 70 mm. The upper incisors are long but weak. The upper cheek teeth have a single conspicuous internal fold with three separate, transverse, enamel-surrounded lakes. [eng]
